News and Press on our Portable Sound Systems

Here's the latest product and advertising news from Sound Projections.

See our latest ad in Sound & Communications. (06/05)

We ran a new advertisement in the INFOCOMM (May 23rd) issue of Sound & Communications magazine. Featuring the Shure wireless system in our Sound Machine SM2+ portable sound system, it's the first in a series of ads we'll be running this year. To see the ad, click here.

Freedom FR-2 System with enhanced features replaces FR-1. (11/04)

The Freedom FR-2 portable sound system is now shipping. An upgrade to the model FR-1, it features true AC/DC operation and a universal 100 to 250 VAC power input.

New "Sound Porter" transport system. (11/04)

Shipping now, the Sound-Porter is Sound Projections solution to transporting your portable sound system across a polished gym or a muddy football field with ease. Its collapsible 150 pound capacity hand truck with 7" rubber wheels is mated to a rugged, cordora nylon protective cover with dual zippers and a side pocket. (The cover and truck are also available separately.)

SM-2+ adds popular talkover feature (07/04)

Sound Projections flagship 200 watt portable sound system now includes Talkover, a popular feature first introduced on the Freedom model FR-1 in 2003. When actuated, talkover automatically detects speech over the microphone and quickly but smoothly lowers the volume of all other inputs so the person speaking can be heard clearly. When the user finishes speaking, the volume automatically returns to normal. No more running over to your sound system to lower the music volume when you need to make an announcement!

CD Player in Sound Machine and Freedom now plays MP3s. (06/04)

Sound Projections OPT-01 and OPT-11 built in CD Players now play MP3 files recorded onto Compact Disks. These compressed digital audio files, popular because of their small size, allow tens-of-hours of music on a single CD. The new player also supports ID3 tagging which displays titles, artist names and album names while the music in an MP3 file is being played. The information is conveniently displayed on the large, high resolution, two line alpha-numeric display.

John Munroe, Sound Projections President exclaims: “The addition of MP3 functionality to our products underscores Sound Projections philosophy of bringing the latest technology to our customers.”
